Setting up a school

This section is for the person opening PinkTower for their school for the first time. It takes you from registering to a school that is ready for its first day: staff invited, classes created, fees set and children enrolled.

Everything here is done by an Administrator. If you invite a colleague as an administrator, they can help with any of it.

Some steps depend on others, so work through them in this order. You can stop at any point and come back later. Your free trial starts the moment you register, and everything works during it.

  1. Register your school and confirm your email address with the code we send you. See Register your school.
  2. Add your contact details. The first time you sign in, PinkTower asks for your phone number and address before anything else opens. See Add your contact details.
  3. Choose your grade levels. Do this first: every class, fee, document list and supply list offers only the grades you choose. The welcome tour asks you, or use My Account → Preferences → Grade levels. See School settings.
  4. Check the display currency and fill in your school contact details, so PinkTower can reach your school. See School settings.
  5. Connect your bank account, so parents can pay fees online. Parents cannot pay in the app until you do. See Connect your bank account.
  6. Invite your staff: teachers, nurses, bus drivers and conductors, and any other administrators. See Invite staff, nurses and bus crew.
  7. Create your classes and choose each class's teachers. See Create classes.
  8. Set up your fees: add your terms, then your fee types, then the fee amounts for each grade. See Terms, fee types and amounts.
  9. Decide which documents you need from families, such as birth certificates or immunisation cards. See Required documents.
  10. Add your students and their parents or guardians. Each parent gets an email invitation. See Add students and guardians.
  11. Enrol each child into their class. Enrolling is what starts billing them. See Create classes.
  12. Set your pickup closing time, so PinkTower can warn you about children not collected on time. See Closing time and late pickups.
  13. Set up the school bus, if you run one: buses, crew, who rides, then run times. See Set up the school bus.
  14. Add the days you are closed, such as half term and public holidays. See Calendar, events and closures.
  15. Build your supply catalogue and grade lists, if you track classroom supplies. See Catalogue and grade lists.
  16. Subscribe before your free trial ends, so nothing pauses. See Your PinkTower subscription.

Terms matter beyond fees

Add your terms even if you do not bill through PinkTower yet. The school bus only runs during a term, so a school with a bus and no terms will find it refuses to carry anyone.

After setup

Once your school is running, the day-to-day work lives in other sections:
