Install PinkTower on your phone

PinkTower is a web app: it runs in your phone's browser, and you can add it to your home screen so it opens like any other app, full screen and without the browser's address bar. There is nothing to download from an app store, and it takes up very little space.

You do not have to install it. Everything works the same in the browser.

Add PinkTower to your home screen

Open PinkTower in your browser first, at the address in your invitation email or the one your school gave you.

  1. Open PinkTower in Chrome.
  2. Tap the menu button (three dots, top right).
  3. Tap Install app or Add to Home screen. The wording depends on your version of Chrome; some versions also show an install banner at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Tap Install (or Add) to confirm.
  5. Find the PinkTower icon on your home screen or in your app list, and open it from there.
  1. Open PinkTower in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button (a square with an arrow pointing up), at the bottom of the screen or next to the address bar.
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Leave the name as PinkTower, or change it, then tap Add.
  5. Find the PinkTower icon on your home screen, and open it from there.

If you do not see the option, make sure you are using Chrome on Android or Safari on an iPhone, and that your browser is up to date.

Using the installed app

  • You may need to sign in once more the first time you open the installed app. On an iPhone in particular, the home-screen app keeps its own sign-in, separate from Safari. After that you stay signed in as you would in the browser.
  • Updates arrive by themselves. When a new version is ready, you see A new version is available. Press Update now to load it.
  • You need an internet connection for almost everything. Two screens keep working without one: taking attendance and the bus crew screen. What you record offline is saved on the phone and sent when you reconnect. See Take attendance and Run the morning and afternoon runs.
  • To remove it, delete the PinkTower icon as you would any other app. This does not affect your account.
