Notifications

Who can do this: Administrator Teacher Nurse Parent

PinkTower tells you when something needs your attention: a message, a new photo, a fee paid, a child collected. Notifications appear under the bell at the top of the screen. You choose which kinds you receive, apart from a few that are always on.

Bus drivers and conductors do not have a bell in the web app.

The bell

The bell shows how many notifications you have not read yet.

  1. Press the bell to see your 50 most recent notifications. Unread ones are highlighted with a dot.
  2. Press a notification to mark it read and go to the page it is about.
  3. Press Mark all read to clear the count without opening each one.
Notification about Takes you to
An absence That child's attendance history
A pickup or a late pickup That child's pickup history
A payment, overdue fee, refund or payment dispute Billing
A change to the school's bank account Billing
A photo Gallery
An event Calendar
A document the school needs Paperwork
A bus run that has not started Transport (administrators)
A message, announcement, story or broadcast Messages

The bell checks for new notifications when you come back to PinkTower and every few minutes while you use it, so a new one can take a few minutes to appear.

Some notifications are also sent by email: new required documents, document reminders and rejections, event and volunteering reminders, and changes to the school's bank account.

Choose what you receive

  1. Open the account menu (your name) and choose My Account.
  2. Scroll to Preferences, then Notifications.
  3. Tick a category to receive it, or untick it to stop.

The change saves straight away. Turning a category off stops it everywhere: in the app, on your phone and by email.

Category Covers
Attendance & pickup When your child is marked absent, collected, or still at school after closing. Always on
Payments Receipts, refunds and overdue reminders
Messages Direct messages from staff
Announcements School announcements and broadcasts
Photos & stories New gallery photos and progress stories
Calendar & events Events, changes, reminders and volunteering
Documents Forms and records the school needs from you
School bus When your child gets on the school bus and when they arrive
Bus run alerts When a bus run has not started by the time it was due
Account security When the bank account your school's fee payments go to is set or changed. Always on
Payment disputes When a parent disputes a fee payment with their bank and the school must send evidence. Always on

Everyone sees the full list, but you only receive the notifications that apply to your role. For example, Account security and Payment disputes go to administrators only.

Why some categories are always on

Attendance & pickup stays on so the school can always reach you about your child's safety. Account security is how administrators find out if the school's money is being redirected. Payment disputes must be answered within hours, or the money goes back.

School bus and Bus run alerts are separate

A family on the bus gets several bus notifications a day and may want them quiet. Turning off School bus does not silence Bus run alerts, the warning that a run has not started.
