The school bus¶
For children who travel by school bus, PinkTower covers the journey between home and the classroom. The driver or conductor marks each child onto the bus and off it, and everyone who needs to know is told:
- Parents see whether their child is on the bus to school, at school, on the bus home or home, and get a notification at each step.
- The register fills itself in. A child the bus drops at school in the morning is marked present.
- The pickup is recorded. A child who gets on the bus home counts as collected, so they are not chased as a late pickup.
- The office sees how many children are on a bus right now, and hears if a run has not started on time.
What it does not do¶
There is no map and no arrival time (ETA). PinkTower does not track where the bus is. What everyone sees is what the crew marked, standing next to the child. That is why the times can be trusted.
In this section¶
- Run the morning and afternoon runs: the crew's screen, marking children on and off.
- Driver and conductor together: two people on one list, and closing the run.
- Warnings and problems on a run: children already collected, runs that never start, and the forgotten last tap.
- When the bus does not run: weekends, holidays and closures.
- Follow your child on the bus: what parents and the office see.
Administrators: before the crew can use any of this, add your buses, assign the crew and choose who rides. See Set up the school bus.
